Sanetsch Cable Car
"In just 10 minutes, into a charming landscape between the cantons of Bern and Valais."
The former industrial cable car was replaced in 1989 by a new 8-person gondola lift and has been open to the public during the summer months since 1994.
Climbing, hiking, biking, and culinary delights
The charming landscape offers visitors countless possibilities: hiking, climbing, biking, and admiring the diverse flora and fauna. Those who prefer a more relaxed experience can enjoy a delicious Valaisan specialty in a cozy mountain inn.

Biker Tip: Descent into Valais
We transport your bicycle to Sanetsch with the cable car. From there, you can ascend on the paved road up to the pass at 2,252 meters above sea level. Then begins your descent into the Valais vineyards, located 1,700 meters below! Be sure to bring a bike or headlamp for the unlit tunnels along the way.

Climbing Tip: Sanetsch Climbing Garden
The Sanetsch area offers climbers a wide variety of magnificent, glacier-weathered rock formations. A total of 72 climbing routes of varying difficulty levels are available. For more information, please contact one of the local mountain guide offices.
Hiking Tip 1: Lake Loop Trail
Well-maintained mountain trail along the shore and slopes of the reservoir. Scenic lakeside sections alternate with rocky stretches featuring moderate elevation changes. Discover the rich Alpine flora and watch the lively activity of the ever-alert marmots (Hiking time: approx. 1.5 hours.)

Hiking Tip 2: Sanetsch Pass – Source of the Saane – Return
Easy hike via the lake loop trail or along the access road to the southern end of the reservoir. From there, continue south through a beautiful landscape once shaped by glaciers and now carved by water. At the pass, enjoy breathtaking views of the Rhône Valley, the Valais and Savoy Alps, and the limestone pavement leading up to the Tsanfleuron Glacier (Hiking time: approx. 3 hours.)
Option: On the return, take a detour westward at the ‘Grande Croix’ (Höje Chrüz) to discover the source of the Saane River.
Hiking Tip 3: Sanetsch Pass – Sion
The hike from Sanetsch Pass can be extended all the way to Sion. From the alpine landscape near 'Hôtel Tsanfleuron', the trail descends moderately through the mountain pastures of 'Giarey', continues through beautiful forests via 'Plan Cernet' and 'Coppet' to the 'Pont du Diable' bridge, where it crosses the dramatic gorge of the 'La Morge'. The route then follows the road to Savièse and winds through picturesque vineyards down to Sion (Hiking time: approx. 7 hours.)
Option: The hike can be shortened by taking a PostBus (Sanetsch–Sion) from one of the stops along the route; see the PostBus timetable for details.
